Konarock : Bookworm

Bookworm | Bookmarks for Books online

From cave markings, to stele, papyrus, wood blocks, incunabula and  codices, via Gutenberg et al, from manuscripts via chapbooks, typescripts to cyberscripts - as in e-books, e-readers, handheld e-book readers, iPads and smartphones -  books have evolved over the centuries, but the essence of books has changed vey little :  a passion, almost an addiction, a strong weakness of the human mind!

The focus of the bookworm will therefore be on all incarnations  of the book as we know it, write it, read it, cherish it - except rare old manuscripts which rightfully belong to the controlled environments of the museum archives.

A Niche for the incurable bookworms

There are so many comprehensive, rich and scholarly sites online yet at the same time are so frightening to approach that many booklovers avoid these and resort to browsing  their  usual outlets like Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com, Borders etc.
Let's try something different and start linking to some unusual fare :

The New Bloomsday Book: A Guide Through Ulysses : A great companion to the famed tome even for the James Joyce cognoscenti.

On the Blue Shore of Silence: Poems of the Sea (English and Spanish Edition) : The unmistakable love poems by Pablo Neruda.

Philosophy in Turbulent Times: Canguilhem, Sartre, Foucault, Althusser, Deleuze, Derrida : Critique of postmodernism in the philosophical context of social theory.

Luminous Emptiness: A Guide to the Tibetan Book of the Dead : A comprehensive and accessible exegesis of the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Profoundly enlightening.

Far from the madding net crowd's often ignoble strife, one would  find an alternative on this niche site - a compromise between the patrician intelligentsia  and the populist purveyors of the plebeian mass market.
